Assignment #14- Plan for Revision

                                           

     For my portfolio I chose to revise my ad analysis essay. Ad analysis essay is because I enjoyed the most by writing about the surrealism of this perfume ad. The strengths of my ad analysis were that I effectively and clearly described the purpose of my essay and the advertisement, and wrote a clear thesis statement. The weaknesses of the ad essay were that in my body paragraphs I wasn’t clear in a few sentences, and I should include some explanation of the image. Over all my paper was little short then it required.

        To effectively revise my ad analysis essay, I am going to work better on my body paragraphs. I will try to make my sentences much clear, concise and organized in better structure. I will include some more detail about the surrealism of the advertisement, and explain in details about the uniqueness of this perfume ad. As well as work better on grammar and sentence structure.

       Furthermore, I am going to make my paper longer and rework on my irrelevant information about perfume ad, and try to make this essay strength, better organized and clear.    

Assignment #13- My Favorite Paper

                                

For my final portfolio I chose to revise my 

first essay the literacy narrative. I choose this

 essay because, writing this essay was the most interesting to me.As I wrote a real story of my life and didn't have to think about being creative, I wrote

 how the situation was that time. The topic

 of that essay is “Spring 2011.” I really 

enjoyed writing a real stories and situations that I experienced in my life. Also having to write essays on a specific story or experience is much easier and interesting. Usually most of the time I am struggling writing essays an unfamiliar topic to me. Narrative essay was the most interesting to me as in this essay I wrote my felt emotions, feelings and thoughts.  For this essay I didn’t have to think about interesting and strong points as all I wrote was a real story and experienced by myself.   

Being honest all four papers are interesting topics to write an essay, but I had big issues and struggle with writing a concise, not wordy, effective and clear papers. Probably the most why I choice to revise the literacy narrative, because I had the highest grade on it than my other papers, it was the most successful paper than other three. Moreover I really enjoyed writing a story of experienced part of my education.  

Assignment #12- Thinking Critically about Evidence

          For arguing a position essay, my topic is “abortion as a form of birth control.” In this essay I persuade the evidence that woman should carefully consider on abortion. Women should have a strong reason for terminating unwanted or unplanned pregnancy. Also women should think about the consequences and consider all options in order to make a decision and not to regret later. This is the strongest evidence because abortion is taking away life.   

            The weakest evidence of my essay is where I wrote that women possible decide to use an abortion as a form of birth control. It weak because I didn’t put the evidence about that is dangerous for health and it is costly, but there are those women exist. To make this evidence stronger , I will write examples and include more powerful evidence.

Assignment #11- Analyzing and Writing Arguments

       For my third paper I analyzed the article “Should the Obama Generation Drop Out?” In this article the author used harsh, insulting and judgmental tone to get attention of the readers. However his tone with the interest attracts to read the article. At the same time he makes interesting points about the role of a bachelor’s degree with applying for a job. Also I understood from this article that in writing an argument you have to have very strong words and made very strong argumentative sentences to make an argument. The writer supports his argument by showing the statistics. To write my own argument, this article taught me to have a topic that will be interesting, and about a common issue in our every daily life, to grab reader’s attention. Moreover chosen a tone is also one of the most important things in your paper, so for my argument I will use soft and strong tone. In my paper I will try to give more of convincing evidence, use examples and include some statistics, to make my argument strong and support it.   

Assignment # 10 Peer Review

 Honestly I think, specifically the peer reviews we do in class doesn't help very much. Because we are students, don’t give each other good 
comments or feedback to improve our drafts. It could be because we don’t want to discourage each other or just because we don’t really pay attention in our classmate’s paper. In my opinion, peer review is very interesting, but I don’t get any help to improve my paper. For our third paper and so third peer review, I found it very helpful and interesting. The first time when we meet in group with the same chosen article helped me more understand what about my article and get the deep main idea of that article. When we meet second time for this assignment it was also a good idea to read our papers out loud and find out the purpose of our papers. I don’t know why, but first two peer reviews seem to me not helpful. For my third peer review, I got helpful feedback for the entire paper, and the main point of my chosen article. My ideal peer review is it exactly what we have. I think reading others papers is sometimes could really help to come up with new ideas and thoughts.

            Yes, I think it is helpful to do the peer review for earlier stages of the writing process, to get more information what is your purpose going to be. Working in the larger group to me more helpful, because many people have a different idea, this is helping to woke up our ideas. I feel we do have an appropriate time for the peer review, even sometimes finishing early than of the given time.
